Chickies Rock Overlook in West Hempfield Township, PA. Beautiful Views of the Susquehanna! BP115
Saturday, August 10, the weather was perfect for a day trip to Pennsylvania to hike the Chickies Rock Overlook Trail in West Hempfield Township. This trail takes you to one of the most beautiful overlooks in Lancaster County. The trail to get to the overlook is a very wide level path. I only needed to carefully climb over some rocks to get down to part of the overlook, but there were other areas of the overlook that I didn’t have to climb rocks to get to. It was an easy hike and the view was quite impressive. Thanks for watching. Enjoy!✌️

Saturday night, July 27, 2024. I went with my friends Walt and Paul to see Pete Best and his band play live at Historic Club 66. You sure did find some old grave markers! Too bad most are too weathered to be legible, but interesting to see, nonetheless. Nice vlog, Pete!

      There were some old ones there, many very deteriorated. I’m glad I was able to find out who was buried in some of them. Thank you, Jean! ✌️

      I'm imagining what the graveyard and the surrounding area looked like 200 - 300 years ago when these folks were first put to rest. Another good one, Pete!

      @waltscheurer3846 from the looks of things, probably not a whole lot. There’s still lots of land out there, lots of Amish too. Thanks, Walt!✌️

    any directions?

      Use the All Trails App and type in Glen Ellen Trail and Sam’s Grave loop. When you open that, scroll down to directions and it will tell you how to get there. There is some moderate hiking involved.

    Another great vlog! I love the ones where you explore ruins! Was there any information about what type of mill that was and how long it was in service?

    • @beatlepete
      @beatlepete 3 месяца назад

      Walt, here’s some info I found about the mill. Thanks ✌️ The site was once teaming with activity: the mill in the 4 story stone building ground flour and feed, a sawmill processed timber, a cider mill pressed juice, a bone mill ground bone for fertilizer, and across the covered bridge, an auger factory turned out augers for drills and a blacksmith tended horses. In 1815, James Jackson and John Bemis bought the mill. They owned it until John Scott purchased the mill in 1845. The Simon J. Martinet 1858 map showed David Scott as owning the land on which the mill was located.
